CENSUS ACTIVITIES

Census of Population and Housing (CPH)

A decennial undertaking that gathers information on the size and distribution of the population as well as information about its demographic, social, economic, and cultural characteristics. It also gathers information on the supply of housing units, their structural characteristics and facilities.




Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF)

A complete count of all farm operators in the Philippines. The census of agriculture gathers basic characteristics of each farm such as size, location, tenure status, source of irrigation, crops planted, livestock and poultry raised, agricultural practices, and others.
For aquafarm, collected information include the type, location, and size of aquafarm and the species cultured.
For fisheries, collected information include characteristics of fishing operators, category of fishing operation, tonnage of fishing boats/vessels used, and kind and number of fishing gears.

Census of Philippine Business and Industry
(CPBI)

A comprehensive collection and compilation of statistical information pertaining to the economic activities of establishments in the country.






HOUSEHOLD-BASED SURVEYS

Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES)

The Family Income and Expenditure Survey is a nationwide survey of households undertaken every three years by the National Statistics Office (NSO). It is the main source of data on family income and expenditure, which include among others, levels of consumption by item of expenditure as well as sources of income in cash and in kind. The results of FIES provide information on the levels of living and disparities in income of Filipino families, as well as their spending patterns.

Annual Poverty Indicators Survey (APIS)

A nationwide survey conducted annually except when there is Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) that gathers information on various indicators relating to poverty.

Family Health Survey (FHS)

A nationwide survey designed to provide information on maternal and child health, family planning and other health-related concerns in order to assist policymakers and program managers in evaluating and designing strategies for improving health and family planning services in the country.

Labor Force Survey (LFS)

A nationwide survey of households undertaken every quarter, designed to provide statistics on levels and trends of employment, unemployment, and underemployment for the country, as a whole, and for each of the country’s administrative regions, including provinces and key cities or municipalities.

National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS)

A nationwide survey conducted every five years designed to measure trends in demographic and family planning indicators, maternal and child health, fertility, and other health concerns.

Survey on Children (SOC)

A nationwide survey designed to collect data on the status and conditions of all working children 5 to 17 years old, including the economic status of the household to which the children belong.

Functional Literacy, Education, and Mass Media Survey (FLEMMS)

A nationwide survey conducted every five years that gathers data on the latest status of literacy, education, and mass media exposure of Filipinos.

Household Energy Consumption Survey (HECS)

A nationwide survey that gathers data on household energy consumption, application and other relevant information.

Survey on Overseas Filipinos (SOF)

A nationwide survey that intends to monitor the number and economic contribution of overseas workers and determine the levels and trends of international migration.

Household Survey on Domestic Visitors (HSDV)

A nationwide survey that presents the profile, characteristics, and travel patterns of domestic Filipinos throughout the country.


INDUSTRY-BASED SURVEYS

Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI)

Provides statistics on the structure, trends, and levels of economic activity in the country. Annual survey covers 14 sectors while the quarterly survey covers 12 sectors.

Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI)

Provides indicators on the performance of selected industries in the manufacturing sector.

Producer’s Price Survey (PPS)

Measures monthly and yearly changes in producer’s prices of key commodities in the manufacturing sector and generates the producer’s price index (PPI).

Consumer Price Survey (CPS)

Weekly and bi-monthly survey on the changes in the prices of commodities consumed and services availed of by an ordinary Filipino household; serves as bases in the computation of consumer price index (CPI) and inflation rate.

Survey of Tourism Establishments in the Philippines

This is a nationwide survey of establishments in the formal sector engaged in tourism characteristic industries only as defined by Philippine Tourism Statistical Classification System (PTSCS).

Survey on Information and Communication Technology

The Survey on Information and Communication Technology (SICT) of the Philippine Business and Industry, a rider to the ASPBI, aims to collect and generate information on the availability, distribution and access/utilization of ICT among industries and business in the country.

Survey of Energy Consumption of Establishments

The 2010 Survey of Energy Consumption of Establishments (SECE) is the first-ever survey of establishments on energy consumption. This survey gathers data on establishments’ energy consumption and relevant factors affecting such consumption.


ADMINISTRATIVE-BASED SURVEYS

Foreign Trade Statistics

The foreign trade data contained in this report relates to commerce between the Philippines and other countries by sea or air whether for private or government use or for commercial purposes, gifts or samples. It also includes animals for the zoo, for breeding and the like.

Commodity Flow in the Philippines

Pertains to the flow of goods through airports, seaports and railway stations in the country, whether for government or private use, or for commercial purposes.

Construction Statistics from Approved Building Permits

Data generated from building permits issued by the local government; floor area, type, and value of building constructions proposed to be constructed.

Vital Statistics

Data generated from birth, death, and marriage certificates.
